The ticket prices differ depending on in which zone the stop at which one intends to get off is situated. The Warsaw municipal area is divided into two zones. Zone 1 covers all the stops in the city borders, and the Zone 2 covers the stops outside the city borders. The buses that passes between those two zones are marked with numbers 7XX and 8XX. So, if one intends to go further, it is worth checking if the stop at which one intends to get off is situated in Zone 1 or Zone 2. Most of the tickets can be bought in two options: valid for Zone 1 and valid for Zone 1 and 2. Temporary tickets are valid both for Zone 1 and 2. The map of the zones can be found at the website

Warsaw City Card is issued upon application of the passenger. The foreigners have to fill in a special application.
You have to provide: your name and surname, PESEL number, or the date of birth in case of foreigners. You can also present your personal address, including postal code and the phone number, but that is not obligatory. The application may be filled online, or printed out and then filled and sent by post. You can also fill it in, in one of the passenger service points (the list of which is available here).
The card may be collected in person in one of the passenger service points. In order to do so, one will need to present one’s ID - the person who issues the document will then check whether the personal details on both documents are the same. The first issuance of the document is free of charge, on the condition that one has got a photo with him (it can be a computer file or a printed one, in which case it will be scanned).
The photo of the passenger is placed on one’s card, as well as his name and the surname. In case of losing the document, the passenger is obliged to pay 10 PLN to receive the duplicate. The card can be topped-up (meaning that the ticket one buys can be then coded on it) at some newsagents, at the post offices, underground stations where the machines for topping-up the card are situated. The card needs activating to be valid. The card is validated by placing it in front of the marked area on the validating machine. It needs to be done on the first ride.
