What should you do if someone offers you a bribe or suggests that you should give a bribe? A bribe is a type of benefit, financial in most cases, handed to a person of a group of people, in order to achieve particular aims, omitting standard procedures. Accepting and offering bribes is a financial offence and is a subject to a custodial sentence up to 10 years.
Polish law is very strict regarding bribery. Even insubstantial gifts like a bottle of cognac or a pack of coffee given to a medicine doctor or a clerk can be treated as a bribe. Such officials execute their responsibilities within the framework of their occupations and should not receive any additional benefits. It is a very dishonest practice!
If you are offered a bribe or someone expects you to give a bribe, you should immediately contact with the Central Anticorruption Bureau (Centralne Biuro Antykorupcyjne - CBA)
