Somebody told you, that you should not smoke under a bus or tram shelter? He has the right to do so. In Poland, there is a ban on smoking in public places, example of which is the bus or tram shelter.
Breaking the ban of smoking under the shelters and in the vehicles (although that stems from the different regulations) may result in fine of 20-500 PLN. The fine depends on the various circumstances, meaning for instance on the behaviour of the offender and the number of people present at the stop. The ban applies also to alcohol consumption at the stops and on the means of transport (100 PLN fine).
In Poland there is a custom of giving up one's seat to the elderly people, although it is said that recently it happens less and less frequently. In the vehicles, there is space that was designed for the people with children and for pregnant women, prams and the handicapped people. Passenger should not occupy that space, unless one belongs to one of the above-menttioned groups of people. It is mainly related with good manners because there are no legal sanctions for people who refuse to act in that way.
Serious financial consequences, in the amount of 450 PLN, will be imposed on a person who stops the vehicle (e.g. by pulling the emergency brake) or on a person involved in an unjustified change of the route.
