Special schools are intended for children and young people with the determined degree of disability. At the request of parents/legal carers children having the statement about the need of the special education issued by the adjudication panel in a public psychological and pedagogical clinic, are being enrolled to the special nursery school, the special primary school and the widely available special junior high schools.

Artistic and sports schools are educating on the primary and high school level. Among artistic schools, some are carrying out both general as well as artistic-sports education. There are also schools implementing artistic education exclusively. At some schools implementing the general education classes with the sports or artistic profile are functioning. There are also separate sports schools and schools of sports mastery. Enrolling to schools of this type is held on such principles as in other schools, however the child must additionally demonstrate his artistic or sports predispositions. Additional acceptance rules are determined by individual schools.

There are schools in which Polish is not a lecture language. These are schools or classes, organized by diplomatic posts or consular or cultural-educational associations of the given nationality. Besides language of the country of origin given classes can concern cultures of this country.
