Periodic servicing is obligatory and paid (a passenger car – 98 PLN). Cars older than 5 years, are to be serviced once a year. In case of new vehicles, the first examination must take place within 3 years from the registration, or after reaching 40.000 km (24,850) mileage. Second examination must take place in two subsequent years.

Depending on the kind of a car, the examination can take place in a District Vehicle Control Station: in case of cars that are fueled by gas, cars that were brought from abroad (before being registered), or in case of directing the car for examination by appropriate authorities (i.e. as a result of a traffic check). In other cases the examination can take place in the Prime Vehicle Control Station.
