Among the insurance types mentioned below, only the OC insurance is obligatory.
OC
The obligatory OC insurance protects its owner or a person driving his car from the financial consequences of the damages done to the third party (if participating in an accident). In case of an accident the insurance company pays compensation to the aggrieved party. While selling the vehicle, the OC is transferred to the buyer, who receives the document confirming the insurance agreement. If the new owner of the vehicle does not terminate the contract during 30 days from the act of buying this vehicle, the insurance agreement will remain valid.
What to do when an accident or a collision has taken place, and the guilty part does not have the OC insurance?
It is necessary to call the police immediately. The insurance claim needs to be directed to the Insurance Indemnity Fund through one of the insurance companies, based on the police protocol from the scene of the incident.

The casualty insurance for the driver and passengers of a motorized vehicle.
„Green card”
An international liability insurance for the damages done by the driver, outside his native country. The green card is useful when one is planning to visit the countries outside EU. Since 2004, if the person driving a car with Polish license plates owns a valid OC insurance, it is not obligatory to have “green card”.
Assistance
This insurance ensures assistance in solving problems that are the outcome of incidents covered by the insurance and have taken place in one’s native country or abroad. Such help involves, i.e., directing the emergency road service to the scene of an accident or breakdown, towing, service and help with accommodation, and financial support, if needed.
