You can start learning Polish already in your country of origin, going to a range of language schools or the Polish Institutes. Moreover, various possibilities are accessible to a foreigner wishing to study Polish who is already in Poland. Thanks to a wide range of offers it is feasible to combine education with studies or work. The most common are the language courses and individual lessons provided by companies and NGOs.
You can also study in the so-called ‘tandem’. For persons wishing to learn Polish by themselves or looking for additional material, Polish publishing houses provide a wide range of books; some material can be also found in the web.
Those who already speak some Polish, and who need to confirm such knowledge, please refer to the part devoted to the exams certifying the knowledge of Polish as a foreign language.
We strongly recommend that each person should take an effort and study Polish on its own – though, a language course in school might be very useful in mastering Polish, some groups might have an easier task due to the similarity of many words (e.g. in Ukrainian).
Attention!
Polish language trainings are available to students of Polish universities. If you are / going to be a student, ask about such possibility in your department.
