People who come to the EU cannot bring any meat, meat preparations, milk and dairy products, without the official veterinary documents. Those rules were introduced in order to stop the spread of serious animal diseases.
In case of finding such products in a travelers luggage, the customs officer will ask for it, with the intention of destroying it - stresses in her statement for the portal, Marzena Siemieniu, the spokesperson for the Board of Customs in Biala Podlaska. That regulation does not apply to powdered milk for infants, the food for infants and some special food needed as a medical requirement, on the condition that the product does not need cooling before consumption and it is factory-sealed and intact.
Legal basis: The directive by the European Commission (WE) number 132/2008 dated to 14 February 2008 changing the directive (WE) number 754/2004, concerning the means of transport of meat preparations intended for personal consumption
