Smaller towns in Poland, where there is no train, can be reached by bus (PKS), or private carriers’ buses and mini-buses. In many cities bus stations, from which PKS and private buses depart, are located next to or in the close proximity to railway stations.
PKS buses
Car Transport Company (PKS) has branches throughout Poland. Bus timetables and ticket price can be checked at bus stations on information boards or in information offices and on the website. Tickets can be purchased at ticket counters at the bus station or directly from the driver before the departure. In Warsaw tickets for some PKS buses can be bought online. Private Buses
Besides PKS buses one can use the buses of private operators. In principle, the rules of travelling by PKS buses and private buses are the same. Though, one should pay attention to the fact that private carriers are allowed to set any price of the ticket and, hence, they can vary depending on the carrier. Tickets priva for a bus or mini-bus can usually be purchased at the special points at the bus stations or just directly from the driver. Private buses and mini-buses usually have a notice on the windshield that specifies the directions (main towns) of the journey.
