Beside the standard landline telephone, one can use VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), which enables to call via Internet, instead of a standard landline telephone. However, in order to do so, one have to have a proper equipment, software and access to the Internet.
By VoIP one can call other users of VoIP as well as the users of landline telephony and mobile phones. The advantage of Internet calls is free calls to other users of the Internet calls, who have the same operator, lower costs of calls to landline telephones (usually with regard to the international or zone calls).
VoIP is mainly used for the international calls (the costs are much lower than those of calls made from a landline telephone or a mobile phone). You can use the service of e.g. FreecoNet www.freeconet.pl/ (Polish operator of VoIP) who offers calls via multiple operators simultaneously.
