What documents are required to apply for a work permit?

The types of documents which must be presented in order to obtain a work permit depend on the type of a permit.

a) within 3 years preceding the application for a work permit graduated from a school or a college in Poland, or in another EEA state or the Swiss Confederation, or
b) within 3 years preceding the application resided lawfully on the territory of Poland;

Copies of the contract under which service in Poland is provided or these sections of the contract which specify the obligations of a foreign employer (in such cases when  the employer does not want to disclose other terms of the contract, and they are insignificant in terms of procedures related to  issuing a work permit) or, in the case when the contract has not  been concluded yet, a statement made by a foreign employer and a copy of the relevant portion of the contract , a foreign employer shall  provide immediately after its conclusion, the documents may be made in a standard written form

a list of foreigners who are to implement the export service (including names, surnames, passport number and position of work in Poland)

Documents compiled in a foreign language, with the exception of identity cards or travel documents, that is evidence in a procedure of issuing a work permit, shall be submitted in the original version but also translated into Polish by a sworn translator.

A decision on a work permit should be issued without undue delay, not later than within one month time*.


*The provisions of the Code of Administrative Procedure   state that complicated procedure may last longer but the party should be notified about the extension.
