- You should immediately inform the police (if the documents were stolen or you predict they were)
- Report the theft to the consulate of your country (if the lost documents were issued in the country of your origin).
- Inform your bank (especially in case of credit and debit cards), ask for putting your documents in the Protected Documents Register, thanks to which all Polish banks will have information about them.

When your residence card is lost or destroyed:
- Please inform the voivodeship office that issued it within 3 days from losing it
If the Polish registration book or licence plates of your car are lost or destroyed, report such fact to the police:
In the case of destruction or theft of Polish registration book or Polish license plates of the vehicle, you must apply for a duplicate or re-register at the office where the vehicle was registered.
Required documents and procedures
If you find your residence permit, please report this fact within 3 days. If a new permit was issued, the old one should be given back.
Cost of issuing of new residence permit:
- first loss/destruction – 100 PLN
- following losses/destructions – 200 PLN
If you have lost the documents issued by the foreign country (travel document, passport), and there is a possibility of contacting the country's consulate, please go to there in order to receive temporary documents. country, one should report to appropriate consulate for temporal documents.
