Local character means that a particular office settles cases for a particular area (e.g. in cases of address registration, you should go to a Commune Office of your address). Subject character determines types of cases that can be settled in a particular office (e.g. work permits for foreigners – Regional Employment Offices).
Applications should be submitted according to subject and local characters. However, if you submit your case to a wrong office, it is obliged to forward it to a proper office.
Applications
To start proceedings in a particular office, most often you should submit a proper application. Most offices put exemplary applications at their websites or as paper documents that can be received in an office. In such a case, you just have to fill in the form according to the instructions. You should also attach copies of necessary documents.
If you have to prepare an application on yourself, the below information should be provided:
- date and place,
- information about submitting person (name , surname and registered address, postal address)
- details of the institution you submit an application to (name and address),
- information about a case, preferably together with the explanations,
- signature.
Applications are generally subject to a revenue fee (amount depends on a case), which can be paid at an office counter, by a transfer to a proper account.
If you submit an application personally in an office, remember to prepare it in two copies in order to receive a confirmation of submitting it. If you send an application by post, send it by a registered post and keep a receipt.
